Baron Harkonnen
The Harkonnen House is described as cruel and greedy, with a code of honor based on violence and destruction. Their leader, Baron Vladimir Harkonnen, is a particularly cruel man.
In this illustration, the Baron is depicted sitting on his throne, as a power-hungry and insatiable man. Everything seems to bore him, reflecting his contempt for anything that does not benefit him. His overweight, which he is ashamed of, is hidden by his fluid-textured outfit, symbolizing his desire to mask his weaknesses.
I drew inspiration from historical despotic kings, such as Vlad Tepes or Ivan the Terrible of Russia, to create this representation. The oriflammes in the background recall the banners of medieval kings, symbolizing their power and authority. The almost divine light coming from the ceiling contrasts with the Baron's posture, highlighting his arrogance and contempt for everything sacred.
Through this work, I seek to evoke a feeling of contempt and cruelty, while conveying a message about the dangers of absolute power and greed. I also aim to highlight the true nature of the Harkonnens.
