Privacy and Cookie Policy
1. Who we are
This site is operated by Illustration Québec (“IQ”, “we”). For any questions regarding this policy or your personal information, write to us at info@illustrationquebec.com.
2. Information we collect
Depending on how you use the site, we may collect: your account information (name, email, encrypted password), the content you post (portfolio, projects, profile), your saved items and followed artists, and — for paid members — the information needed to process the membership. Membership payments are processed by our provider Stripe: we do not store your credit card data.
For visitors who are not logged in, we store certain preferences locally (see section 4), such as the projects you like and your chosen language.
3. Why we use it
We use this information to: create and manage your account, display and operate the directory and member portal, process memberships, send you notifications and announcements (according to your preferences), and keep the site secure. We do not sell your personal information.
4. Cookies and local storage
The site uses cookies and the browser’s local storage. We do not use advertising tracking cookies or third-party analytics tools.
Strictly necessary cookies:
- WordPress login cookies – maintain your session while you are logged in. Without them, authentication is impossible.
- Membership cookies (Paid Memberships Pro) – used temporarily during the registration/payment process.
Preference (functional) cookies:
iq_likes– remembers the projects you like when you are not logged in (duration: 1 year).iq_ui_langandpll_language(Polylang) – remember your chosen display language.
Browser local storage (these are not cookies):
The site stores certain display preferences in your browser: the order of the artists list, the state of the directory’s side panel, and the order of Discovery mode. This data stays on your device and is not transmitted to us.
You can delete or block cookies at any time in your browser settings; some features (staying logged in, remembering your preferences) may then no longer work.
5. Sharing of information
We only share your personal information with the providers necessary for the operation of the site (hosting, payment gateway) and where required by law. The content you voluntarily post in your public portfolio is, by nature, visible to other users and to the public.
6. Retention
We keep your information for as long as your account is active, and then for the period necessary to meet our legal obligations. You may request the deletion of your account by writing to us.
7. Your rights
In accordance with the legislation applicable in Quebec (notably Law 25), you have the right to access your personal information, to have it corrected, to withdraw your consent and, in the cases provided for by law, to request its deletion or portability. To exercise these rights, write to us at info@illustrationquebec.com. You may also file a complaint with the Commission d’accès à l’information du Québec.
8. Security
We take reasonable measures to protect your information (encrypted passwords, restricted access, secure connections). As no system is infallible, we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. Changes
We may amend this policy. The up-to-date version is published on the site with its effective date.
